The United States Air Force is the aerial warfare branch of United States of America. Its main function is to maintain aerospace security and superiority.
The United States Air Force shortly known as the USAF was founded on 18th September 1947. Until 1947, USAF was a part of the United States Army. The National Security Act was passed in 1947 which made USAF an independent branch of the United States Military.

Today USAF plays a vital role in the security of United States. It has performed various rescue missions, air superiority missions, reconnaissance and surveillance missions.

It has 321,444 active personnel, 141,880 civilians, 69,200 reserve personnel, 105,700 air national guard and maintains a massive amount of 5047 manned aircraft (unmanned aircraft excluded).

Pentagon, Arlington County in Virginia is the USAF headquarters. The motto of USAF is “Integrity first, Service before self, Excellence in all we do”.

When it comes to aircraft, USAF has 2025 fighter aircraft, along with bombers, attack aircraft, transport aircraft, helicopters, airborne warning units, etc.
